Movie star

Back in April when CP was in Seattle, my mom was here for a visit. I am so grateful for her timing because we had our first hospital visit with a child. Mary fell off a platform at open gymnastics and needs to get 5 stitches. She was an unbelievable trooper- both Mom and I were amazed at how calm she was through the entire episode. The nurse even wrapped her in a papoose and she couldn't get to her beloved thumb!

I've just now gotten the pictures form our adventure off my phone and into the computer. In her typical Fancy Nancy style, Mer-mer wore her sunnies the entire time because she wanted everyone to think she was a movie star!

She is :-)

Morphine drip

They say (ever wonder who they are?) that if as adults we felt the pain of a teething baby, we would need a morphine drip. I often laugh with my friends that we as parents pass off any type of unidentifiable crankiness as teething.
Well, Michael has 4 molars coming in all at once. I wish I could do more for him He's got a low grade fever and is super clingy so I gave him some IB and within 20minutes, he was off playing back to his normal self.
Teething? I'll give a little extra TLC to help.

Sour Kangaroo

Jenny, our sitter, is famous. At least to the girls she is. Jenny is in her school plays at BSM and I love taking the girls to she her, and the plays. So far, we've seen Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and this year's performance of Seussical the Musical.

Its no coincidence that Horton Hears A Who came out in the movie theaters this year. That being said, Mary and Addie beg for the sound track in the car and sing out loud when ever we get in the car. We pretend play Seussical and my Mary is always the Sour Kangaroo. She was her favorite when we saw the show and if you could just see her put her hand on hip and sing put loud!

I am so glad that the girls have someone like Jenny in their lives. She is a good kind girl who really cares and truly enjoys playing with the kids. That's hard to find. I am ever grateful to her!

Funner

Jenny was kind enough to hang out with us today- we had a short cold visit to the pool and then to Three Rivers Park District shoots and ladders with Holly & Sierra. I went on a mission to find Mac's birthday present, and then we played in the back yard.

The little things

Addie poured her own cereal this morning. Why hasn't she been doing this every day?
When Clint is away, one of the girls usually sleeps with me- I love it and they do too. Last night it was Mary. She's been having some active dreams so it was even better that I could be there with her all night. We fell alseep holding hands.

Pool's open!

I think Mac had the most fun!

Kenny rocks.

Last night was an impromptu party in our back yard. The neighbors from across the street, next door and a couple houses down all came over. We had a fire, the girls ran all over and played in the dark, and we all stayed up and drank wine. It was a great time and it reminded me of why I put up with living in the city. I love being part of a neighborhood.

Pooh sticks

It turned out to be a nice day today so we went to Minnehaha Park to hike along the Falls. Mac LOVES being in the backpack and checking everything out. Addie had a blast walking in the rush of the creek and Mary had fun exploring nature.

T.G.I.F.

We have great friends. And on Fridays we all get to play together. Kate, Maren and Liam, Hilary, Erin and Bethie and the 4 of us have had a weekly play date for over a year now. During the winter, we all go to "nastics" and then to each other's house for lunch. Is become a well oiled machine getting all the kids fed and then sitting down (sort of) for a yummy lunch. There is always coffee, some sort of baked product, and what ever Kate can whip up with what's in my fridge.
This is what got me through the long cold winter and now that its summer, the kids can play outside, eat on the grass and play in sprinkler. That is, if it ever gets warm enough.
Lucky us.

A big tomato

There is a severe weather threat today.
"Addie, member when there was a big tomato in the basement and Jenny had to watch the news?" said Mary.

Silent little lass

Mary is in the midst if napping negotiations. She needs a nap, pretty much everyday. With Michael having an afternoon nap, we are always home in time, but some days she just wants to play. Its so tough because she gets so weepy by dinnertime if she's not had one, but can't get to sleep at night if she does.

Her newest way of dealing with all of this, is getting out of her bed. Clint and i are usually on the first floor in the kitchen or dining room, and the house gets dark around us often. And then Mary is standing there. Silent. I can't tell you how many times she has just scared me and then she starts to cry, and cry because I've scared her! Poor little lass. She's just trying to get our attention but doesn't understand that she needs to make some noise.

What's the going rate?

Addie came into my room this morning and said, "Mommy, looked what happened when I was brushing my teeth!" I screeched and asked her, "Where is it? Where is your tooth?" She didn't know. We found it in the drain of the sink. I grabbed the needle nose pliers from the shelf (Mac had gotten a toy stuck in the tub drain last night...) and grabbed it. A true Operation type grab.

Its so little. Not sure what I expected from it, but goodness its tiny.

It currently sits under her pillow as she sleeps. Addie is very orderly and goes to bed with her pillows (Tinkerbell, baby pillow and regular bed pillow), animals and blankets the same way and place every night. Its so great. Her little tooth is in a plastic bag waiting for the little fairy.

Tomorrow morning is going to be fun.

Mary, the music video pop star

Can you find her?

Justin Robert's Pop Fly

hint: 3:00

Little boys with little toys

Michael's FAVORITE game involves anything, and the stairs.

Loose Tooth Fairy

The thing is about ready to go! Addie can't keep her tongue from wiggling and wriggling it all day long. I thought today was the day after she bonkend it in the basement jumping off the couch. I am ready for it -I have to cut all her apples up (she eats a lot of apples) :-)

I mentioned the ole' string on a door knob trick- she didn't think it was a good idea.

Summer Homework

At Addie's kindergarten round-up, her new teachers gave her a calendar with homework to do over the summer: write 5 words that rhyme with cat, count how many lightbulbs are in you home, skip around the block with your Mom and Dad. In typical Addie style, the calendar is posted in the kitchen and she is adament about doing her work everyday and then checking it off. Not sure Mary will truely adopt these idosycracies, but for now she copies everything Addie does. Even the 20 jumping jacks assigned for today.

Do you think this is ok?

Hail Jay Leno

The weekend was full of fun summer like activities- like a hail storm. Yes, a hail storm. We were are Mystic Lake seeing Jay Leno with all the retired people from the TC (for real) and when we called to check in with Jenny, she said they'd been in the basement b/c the tornado sirens went off, and there was a 15 min hail storm. It looks like someone took a weedwacker to my hostas- grrr.

Saturday morning was our first trip to the Farmer's Market- rhubarb and strawberries, a jalapeno plant and some WI eggs. And of course a cinnamon roll as big as your head.

Hil and I stopped by the Edina Art Fair- I now remember why I don't go to those anymore.
Sunday supper was at the Lyche's- yummy summer fare. I love this picture of Sara.

The kids had a good time too- George LOVED playing with Mac, and the girls playing, what else, dress up.
