THe Holly Trolley

We had a great afternoon in Linden Hills. We went for lunch, a visit to our favorite book store (Wild Rumpus) and then down to Lake Harriet to ride on the Holly Trolley. Santa was there, a group of carolers, a big warm fire, and lots of excited little ones. It was a great ride!

Turkey girls

This is Addie's friend from school, Emerson. She lives just around the corner and its been great fun to getting to know some new neighbors! Derek is a pilot so he has been around during the day and has (thankfully) been walking Addie home in the afternoons with Emerson. Its the best gift for a mom with 2 kids at home who still love to take naps!

These turkey crowns are the cutest things. They made hand print cut-outs and pasted them around the crown. Addie wore hers all week, all over town.

Little Boy Blue

Its inevitable- at some point Michael is going to stop being a baby boy and become a little boy. He's so busy these days driving cars and trucks around the house, signing for more milk, practicing walking down stairs. He loves his mom and can give a good tight squeeze but there is still so much baby there to me. Maybe because he's the youngest, or maybe he's the only boy (in the Martin house, its the golden child), but I really want him to stay more baby than little boy, at least for now.
Tonight was his first haircut and like the other two, he wasn't too thrilled about it. It took 2 lollipops and a fistful of crayons to get him through, and in the end, as I knew it would be, he looks like my little boy.

Game night

I have always loved the idea of game night, and then I remember that there just aren't that many good games for 3-5 year olds. I am all about card games with the girls but SORRY was the game of choice last night. It took Mary like 15 turns until she finally drew a 2, only to have Addie SORRY her right back in. Ugh. Its tough love I know. We finally agreed that the next person to get someone home would win. Addie's streak continues with her gaming record at like 56-1.

Gobble gobble said the turkey.

Every once in a while Addie comes home with a homework assignment. This week she was asked to decorate Tom Turkey. Her solution was right up my ally- sprinkles! Clint and I have made a deal that with these kind of projects she is in charge of production but that we are here to help. I believe Clint helped with the layout, but Addie did the gluing and sprinkling.

The other weekly project Addie has is her share. This weeks' share is to draw a picture of what our family eats for Thanksgiving. Here, Addie has drawn turkey, fruit, vegetables, gravy, stuffing, pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce, and mashed potatoes. Addie has also drawn pictures of the annual attendees- this includes our family and Nini and Papa. Can you guess who is who?

Sunday's best.

Off to church.

Yesterday I was in the kitchen working, Mac was napping and Addie came in and told me it was time for my appointment...?
Upstairs I went to the girls' room where they had lay blankets out all over the floor and all the stuffed animals were lined up. Addie had a piece of paper on her desk with my name written. "Welcome to our salon. It says here you have an appointment. My name is Lily and my sweetie's name is Marabelle. I'll me doing your hair and Marabelle will be doing your nails. Please come in."

Pony Jet Potluck

Friday night was a gathering of freinds that Addie has really gotten to know and enjoy. They are all neighbors in another neighborhood but we've gone to camp, played soccer and are now taking ski lessons with them. We all have 3 kids- and Sam is the only boy above 17 months old. He's a trooper and the girls all let him pick a video to watch at the end of the evening- Cars was the pick. It was a great night.

Against the rules

I am pretty sure that Jeri doesn't allow this at her house.

What IS this stuff?

Based on his reaction this morning to playing in the snow, I don't think Michael remembers it from last year. I try to block it out as well! He really liked eating, except the stuff he picked up with leaves in it!

Three things

There are only 3 things that Addie won't eat- pizza, bananas and yogurt.
Over the last week she has eaten all 3. Hmmmm.

Tru-MAN

Today is day 3 with Truman and we are all in doggy heaven! We all have fallen in love with Truman and even our one non-dog-lover has declared that she "wants to keep Trummy forever". Not sure that the Dentz family could do with out him, we are enjoying our last day with him.
I was online last night searching Cavadoodle breeders and telling Clint we could get one for the kids for Xmas! He just looked at me.

Weekend away for Da!

Clint went to DC this weekend to go to his 20th high school reunion. I am not sure who this is harder on....
ME: snow, early mornings, crabby kids who need more sleep, or a our new friend Truman (just borrowed for the week!)
CLINT: Missing out on all of the above :-)

WE MISS YOU!
