Blueberry Pie

Tinkerbell

When my mom was out visiting she was playing in the living room with the girls one morning. Our living is FULL of morning light and Mom (Nini) gasped and pointed at a little light reflection jumping around on the wall. I think it was from her watch but she told the girls that it was Tinkerbell. Ever since then, the girls get so excited when they see that little bit of light- in their room, in the car, sitting reading books. It always makes me think of Mom. Tinkerbell was in the living room this morning flying all over the girls' PJs. It was a great way to start the day.

A guest is a guest

We have this book that the girls love to read called "A Guest Is A Guest" in which Farmer Beanbuckets always says, "A guest is a guest, we must show him our best."

This weekend we showed Uncle Ted our best. Ted came just to visit and we all really enjoyed the having him all to ourselves for the weekend. I think Ted's favorite part was reading Dr. Seuss books and singing Seussical tunes.

Friday was golf for Ted & Clint and Addie's performance at Stages Camp. Friday night was lobster night. Saturday was spent at Interlachen CC watching the Women's US Open (beers started at 10am), bacon cheeseburgers for dinner and then The MN Pops at Lake Harriet. A fire on the patio wrapped up the evening (I think Clint and Ted were still drinking beers and eating hot pockets at midnight...that's 14 hours of beers!).

That being said, I know how much it meant to Clint and the kids to have Ted here. Thanks Janine :-)

Lobster Night

Last winter- on one of the coldest nights of the year, someone had the idea to have a lobster night. We all dreamt of a warm evening with a cool breeze (no bugs). Friday night was it! The Jones' hosted our potluck lobster night with a sweet ribeye for me- I know, how sad that I don't appreciate it as much as my friends do (see Kate below). We told Uncle Ted that this is how we eat every week.

Cold shoulder- video test

Independent women

Today's afternoon activity was cleaning the dirt of all the toys in the yard. This led to Addie and Mary playing "CinderEdna". I believe CinderEnda is Cinderella's alter ego from acting camp.
At least that's what I gathered when Addie told Mary they didn't need to clean the coach (our trusty red wagon) because after work, they were going to the store to buy a dress and then take the bus to the ball.

Fancy face

Face painting at birthday parties has come a long way. This was our pal Elodie's 3rd birthday celebration!

Sleep-over

This week started "Cinderellas Around the World" acting camp at the Stages Theater for Addie and her BF Erin. In order to start the week off right, we had Erin for a sleep over. I headed off to the neighbor's to watch the Bachlorette (did I just admit that?) home town visits and left Clint to fend off the 3 girls and get them to bed. He said that at 9:50, he moved Addie into our room. Sounds like a pretty fun sleep over :-)

Collections

Addie likes to go to the grocery store with me because she can wander around the produce area and collect twist-ties. I wonder what she'll make out of all of them.

May 2008 picture posts

How cool is this? I think I can post all my pictures in my Picassa album and then link to it from here. I tell you - the internet is the next big thing!

Run Club

“The first rule about run club is that there is no run club”

So, Polly and I have decided that we need to get ourselves in better shape. Polly has joined “run club”, a group of her girlfriends that run 3 miles a day three times a week. They usually start at 5:30 am and run around Lake Harriet. She has been going consistently and has been kicking butt. I am proud of her.

Recently I bought myself my first pair of running shoes and went running for first time in a long time. I went further than I expected, but not as far as I wanted. It felt great. Finding the time and consistent motivation will be the difficult part, but I’m looking forward to getting more exercise than I do today.

Twins?

Just about a year ago this week, Clint took the girls to a Twins game when the Nationals were in town. Ever since then, the girls are HUGE Twins fans! Tonight the Twins have the Nats in town again and Da took the girls to the game! Go Twins!
The Twins ended up beating the Nats. The girls had the most fun! Their favorite part is seeing TC Bear and visiting the organist. Or is it eating hotdogs, popcorn, cotton candy & Sprite?!?!

Feeling better

Mac's sand and water table from Nini & Papa arrived today. We opened it up and filled it with water and he got right into in. Not sure who was more excited, Michael or Addie?

Can I buy tooth fairy insurance?

This is going to get expensive!

Uckle Update

Mac just can't seem to catch a break. We were back at the pediatrician this morning with an all over rash. On top of the streep, he also has an ear infection. They've changed his antibiotics and we hope that should take care of it.

Rummage sale goodies

On Friday I took the kids over to Addie's new school, Annunciation. They were having their annual rummage sale. Addie was so excited to be at the school plus be able to pick out something to buy.

The girls "rummaged" through whatever was left after a day and a half of the sale- let's just say there wasn't much left. However.... they each picked something out and have had more fun playing with their chosen items that with most other toys we have in the house. Its so great because when they choose something, its never anything I would have bought for them.

I guess that's why they love it so much!

Yea-yah

Annual Father's Day BBQ

Our very good friends, or TC family, the Davidsons, host an annual BBQ every year the day before Father's Day. Yesterday's bash was at their new home and the day couldn't have been brighter! Hil does a fabulous job of taking care of everyone as usual. Addie and Erin had a blast as did Mer-Mer and Bethie. I think the other kids (and adults) had fun too!

Birthday Boy

So it turns out that Michael has strep throat. Poor little guy- not a fun way to spend your first birthday. We got him some antibiotics and took him on a long walk to get some fresh air! A sick baby is such a sad time. Its sad too that its the only time that a 1-year old really wants to be held!

Addie and I worked hard during nap time on a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Addie is a great helper in the kitchen.

We had the Moynihans, Davidsons, Hermansons and Lily over for hot dogs, fruit salad, veggie salad, chips and dip (my choice since I gave birth!), cake and sherbet. Someday he'll be glad that all of the family friends are girls :-)

Michael got lots of great 1-year old boy gifts! Trucks, books about trucks, blocks, a piggy bank a water/sand table, and some really great homemade cards - Mary I think was my favorite. It had a picture of her with Mac and her baby cousin Thomas. She traced the words "Happy 1st Birthday. I love you Mac. Heart, Mary

He finished his day with a bath and I think it was the only time I saw him smile all day.

Mac's big day- more pictures

Movie star

Back in April when CP was in Seattle, my mom was here for a visit. I am so grateful for her timing because we had our first hospital visit with a child. Mary fell off a platform at open gymnastics and needs to get 5 stitches. She was an unbelievable trooper- both Mom and I were amazed at how calm she was through the entire episode. The nurse even wrapped her in a papoose and she couldn't get to her beloved thumb!

I've just now gotten the pictures form our adventure off my phone and into the computer. In her typical Fancy Nancy style, Mer-mer wore her sunnies the entire time because she wanted everyone to think she was a movie star!

She is :-)
